Our 2025 events are the Montana Capital Event, Helena; the Billings Boot Hill/Swords Park event; and the Billings Dutcher Trail event. These three events will be continued into 2026.
NEW FOR 2026 - The Montana County Seat Challenge
The Woodland Wanderers, AVA-0915, is delighted to present the 2026 thru 2030 Montana County Seat Challenge. There are 56 counties in Montana. Each event (except Great Falls) starts at the county courthouse or county administration building. Parking is generally not an issue, but no free parking in Billings or Missoula. Restrooms may be difficult to find. Almost all the county seats have a gas station. Most of the gas stations have a public restroom. But, be prepared. One thing you will not find except in the largest cities are the usual fast food places. These towns simply do not have the population to support them. There are minimal sidewalks. Use them where they exist. Please walk on whichever side of the street feels safest to you. Mostly there are street signs, but sometimes you will need to use the map and possibly your phone to insure you know where you are. Event Elevation is generally over 3,000 feet above mean sea level. All of the towns are HILLY, so be mentally and physically prepared for that. Streets can be asphalt or gravel. Carry your own water. Use sunscreen liberally. Consider carrying bear spray.
